Listen to Jefferson

DANVILLE — Editor:

Our third President Thomas Jefferson, serving 1801-1809, made several famous quotes during his presidency that I feel fits real well this year of 2012.

“My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.”

“For here we are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead.” (Benghazi, Libya?)

“He who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and a third time till at length it becomes habitual.”

“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give it to those who would not.”
