Several Hoopeston Area school district administrators attended an Alert Lockdown Inform Counter Evacuate (ALICE) training in Champaign last week to learn a new method of dealing with an intruder with a gun in a school building.
Hoopeston council approves pool improvements
The McFerren Park swimming pool soon will have a Splash Pad. City council members unanimously approved a bid Tuesday from Spear Corporation to buiid a Splash Pad next year at a cost of $185,685. Money for the project is in the park accrual fund, according to alderman Carl Ankenbrand.

Hoopeston Area school receive bus grant
Hoopeston Area schools' transportation director, Mark Eighner, reported at Thursday's school board meeting the $50,000 grant check had been received from the EPA Illinois Clean School Bus program. The grant aided the purchase of two propane school buses for the district.
Hoopeston mayor rebuts claim of land offer
Mayor Bill Crusinberry rebutted a statement made by Rodney Rogers of J&R Tire, now located in Tilton, that he offered the FMC area to the city. Rogers said in a Champaign News-Gazette story that the offer was declined.
