Women's group to raise funds in Hoopeston

HOOPESTON — Women Making a Difference, a non-profit organization in Hoopeston, is hosting its second annual vendor fair 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Hoopeston Civic Center.

Last year, the fair was in May, prior to Mother’s Day. This year, the focus will be to help the Hoopeston Fire Department and the city replace equipment and uniforms by offering a pre-Christmas shopping event, according to a press release.

Other money raised will go to the following: three or four scholarships to college-bound graduating females; Teen Reach; Blessings in a Backpack and Feed My Lambs; Grant Township Food Cupboard; the library;

Jaycees Post Prom; Miracle Tree; and several others. All of the proceeds go into the community’s charities.

Organizers are looking for vendors to rent remaining spaces. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and there are limited “same wares” of no more than two. For example, only two Avon, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, etc).

For information, call Betty at 283-5715 or Judy at (309) 507-2946 for an application.

Women Making a Difference also will sell gas card raffle tickets in various locations within the next three months at a cost of $1 each or six for $5. There will be two $100 cards and a $50 gas card raffled. The winners will be drawn and announced on WHPO Radio on Oct. 28.
