Area Fourth of July fireworks:
GEORGETOWN — A fireworks display at dusk today at the Georgetown Fairgrounds. Rain date is Sunday, July 6.
MONTEZUMA, Ind. — The Montezuma Reserve Township Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor the Montezuma Independence Day Celebration on Friday. Parade line-up starts at 5 p.m. EDT at Reeder Park. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and travel to Aztec Park. An opening ceremony and flag ceremony will immediately follow the parade.The fireworks display starts at dusk.
OAKWOOD — 1 p.m. — Park opens, craft vendors in park also will open. 5 p.m. — Food sales begin. 5:30 p.m. — Music by Mike Ellis and the Midnight Sons. 9:15 p.m. — Fireworks by Jamaica Pyrotechnics
Only handicapped, tagged vehicles will be allowed in the park. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the park, except at beer tent. Police will be inspecting coolers.
The following streets will be closed and no parking allowed on closed streets: South Seymour Street between Park and West Main streets; West Longstreth Street between Oakwood Road and Seymour Street; West Finley Street between Oakwood Road and Seymour Street; West Main Street between Oakwood Road and Seymour Street
ROSSVILLE — Fourth of July parade at 11 a.m. Friday. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at dusk.
DANVILLE — The Danville Boat Club will have its annual Fourth of July celebration “Thunder Over Lake Vermilion” on Saturday. Rain date: Sunday, July 6. Doors open to the public at 5:30 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge for wristband admission to the clubhouse and grounds. Children younger than 10 will be admitted for free. Bring lawn chairs for use along the lake front.
Fireworks are scheduled for after 9:30 p.m. The Boat Club is seeking donations to cover the cost of the fireworks. Pledges can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Checks can be sent to Danville Boat Club, P.O. Box 1122, Danville IL 61834 or people can call the club on Tuesday or Thursday evenings and provide credit card information.
