Hoopeston police investigate stabbing

HOOPESTON — Hoopeston police continue to search for suspects wanted in connection with a stabbing late last week.

Police Chief Mark Drollinger said police are beginning to get some leads in on the incident, which took place early Thursday evening on the north side of Hoopeston.

A 32-year-old Watseka man arrived at Hoopeston Community Hospital a little after 6 p.m. Thursday suffering from stab wounds to the face, neck and upper body.

He was transferred to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he received treatment and later released.

The man told police he was walking in the 800-1000 block of North Market Street when three men exited an older model blue vehicle and struck him in the head, knocking him unconscious. He awoke covered in blood.

A stranger, the man said, took him to the hospital.

Drollinger said police are attempted to locate both the three men as well as the stranger who allegedly took the victim to the hospital.

Any with information is asked to call Hoopeston police at 283-5196.
