In celebration of its 60th anniversary, Birkey’s has partnered with the Eastern Illinois Food Bank and six other food banks to raise $100,000 for hunger relief. Individuals can participate in the 60-Day Hunger Drive through April 4 by visiting a Birkey’s store or going online to http://www.birkeys.com/hunger.
As part of the hunger drive, Birkey’s will have a Hoopeston open house from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Food bank representatives will speak with guests and collect donations.
A fully restored 1954 Farmall Super MTA tractor, which will be given away at the end of the hunger drive, will be on display. Every $10 donation earns a ticket to win an antique Farmall tractor.
