Hoopeston business expands

HOOPESTON — City council members learned at Tuesday’s meeting that Tuttle’s Tats is in the process of moving into and remodeling a new location in which to expand their business.

Tuttle’s Tats bought the building at 214 S. Dixie Highway. It will reopen later this month and offer expanded services to area residents.

"I love this town," said owner Joanne Tuttle. "I just wanted to expand my business."

She added a motorcycle repair service will be offered, T-shirts, body jewelry as well as tattoos and possibly some tanning beds.

Tuttle’s son, Ax, a graduate of the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Ariz., will be responsible for the motorcycle repairs with his father, Kent Tuttle, helping.

The business, located between Casey’s on West Penn Street and B.J.’s Pump, is waiting for licenses for several of the services and an inspection from the Department of Health.

In other council business:

Alderman Bill McElhaney wanted residents to know there might be a little rust in the water following the Kelly’s Pub & Grub fire last Sunday.

"When you have a fire, it rattles the lines," McElhaney said, "and rust might get stirred up. It will settle down."

Learned several other electric aggregate companies have contacted Mayor Bill Crusinberry, one of which will give a presentation at the mayor’s council on Jan. 24 in Danville.

What’s next

Hoopeston City Council members will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 at City Hall, 301 W. Main St.
