Hoopeston community dinner set for Wednesday

HOOPESTON — The Second Annual Hoopeston Community Christmas Dinner will begin at noon Wednesday in the Hoopeston Multi-Agency, 206 S. First Ave.

The dinner is for anyone in Hoopeston who wishes to share Christmas Day as a community with friends, neighbors, loved ones or for those who cannot share Christmas with family because of distance.

Sue Comstock, the promoter of the first dinner last year, said, “I just want to make sure everyone in Hoopeston has Christmas dinner.”

Shut-ins who would like a meal delivered to their home that day should call Susan or Jill at (217) 495-1620 or (815) 341-8541 to make reservations.

Donations of desserts such as pies, cakes and other items still are needed and would be appreciated, or if an individual, organization or business would just like to donate funds toward the dinner, they can send a donation to “Community Christmas Dinner” to Community Bank, 221 Bank St., Hoopeston, Ill. 60942.

The Christmas dinner last year served more than 100 community residents at the Multi-Agency and through deliveries to shut-ins.
