Weekend sure to be a busy one

DANVILLE — This weekend’s calendar stands full of family fun activities for residents in Vermilion County and the surrounding area.

The Warren County Fair wraps up its annual run Saturday in Williamsport, Ind. And the Vermillion County Fair opens its gates Saturday in Cayuga, Ind.

The 4-H fairs allow young people to show off their skills in a variety of areas, from livestock to flower arranging.

County fairs also give area residents to gather again, enjoy carnival rides and eat way too much fair food, much of which doesn’t come near to making it onto any list of healthy foods.

Danville’s Lincoln Park will fill with visitors Saturday and Sunday for the 25th annual Arts in the Park.

Talented artists from across the country will set up booths in the park to sell their work.

The park stage will be filled hour after hour with talented residents from such organizations as the Danville Symphony Orchestra, Red Mask Players, Sweet Adelines, the Wabash Valley Area Band, Lincoln Park Theater Co., Danville barbershop Chorus, Danville Light Opera and Danville Municipal Band.

Other performances will feature the Illinois National Guard 144th Army Band, local dance groups, Danville’s Christian Cunningham Dave Schroeder and Doc Aston and the Root Canals.

Arts in the Parks also offers a children’s area and lots of food and other fun during the weekend.

People who don’t really pay attention to their surroundings like to say there’s not much to do around here, but even this clueless bunch will have to say this coming weekend offers something for everyone.
