---- — Mary Miller gym on the campus of Danville Area Community College must still echo with the cheers from last week’s National Junior College Athletic Association’s Men’s Division II Basketball Tournament.
Sixteen teams from across the country visited DACC and Danville last week to play for a national title. And while teams concentrated on creating success on the basketball court, tournament organizers and hundreds of local volunteers concentrated on making the tournament a success for everyone.
The tireless efforts of the organizers help bring this major event to the community each year. The logistics of coordinating living and other arrangements for 16 teams stand as a significant challenge. This year, as they do every year, organizers put together a winning effort.
That win would not be possible without the volunteers who put in countless hours to do everything from taking tickets to serving food to selling souvenirs.
Those responsible for all of the hard work involved in making it happen deserve a round of applause.
