Red Mask Players open 71st season

Group to perform ‘Don’t Drink the Water’

STAFF REPORT

DANVILLE The Red Mask Players open the group’s 71st season with “Don’t Drink the Water,” a comedy by Woody Allen.

A cascade of comedy and a solid hit on Broadway, the story takes place behind the Iron Curtain. The Hollander family causes an international spying incident when, husband, Walter, photographs a sunset in a sensitive region. In order to stay out of jail, the Hollanders take refuge in the American Embassy, which is temporarily being run by the absent ambassador’s diplomatically incompetent son.

This hilarious farce is directed by Debbie Prentice. A talented cast of newcomers and familiar faces will keep audiences laughing.

Performance dates are Nov. 2-4, 9-11 and 16-17. Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 p.m. and Sunday shows are at 2 p.m.

Box office hours will be from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 28 – Nov. 1. Call the box office at 442-5858 for reservations. All seats are reserved.

Walk-ins may make reservations and pick up tickets in advance. Save time in line the night of the shows this way. Season memberships may be purchased as well at the theater, located at 601 N. Vermilion St.

Established in 1936, Red Mask Players is one of the oldest community theaters in the state. Housed in the Kathryn Randolph Theater, named after the group’s first director, Red Mask presents three adult and two children’s shows per season.
