The Boys & Girls Club of Danville will begin accepting applications for the 10-week summer program Monday.
The program begins on June 8 and continues through Aug. 14. Regular programming hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The early bird cost for the program is $135 for the first child, $85 for each additional child in the same immediate family, to be paid in full by May 15.
The late registration cost is $185 for the first child, $135 for each additional child in the same immediate family, to be paid in full by June 5.
There will be an early drop-off option starting at 7:45 a.m. and a late pick-up option until 6 p.m. Each option is $50 per family for the duration of the program.
During the Summer Program, members enjoy programs such as SMART (Skills, Mastery and Resistance Training) Moves, which is designed to teach against the influences of drugs and violence, as well as good decision-making skills, and Youth for Unity, which teaches the importance of appreciating diversity.
Other activities include daily building bridges educational exercises, arts and crafts, computer programs, sports and recreation activities, bi-weekly field trips, weekly swimming at Garfield Park Pool and an end-of-the-summer fieldtrip. (All activities are included in the initial membership fee).
The club also partners with other local agencies such as the University of Illinois Extension and Boy & Girl Scouts of America to provide supplemental programs to members such as gardening, Boy Scouts & Girls Scouts, knitting/crocheting and much more. A hot lunch and snack will be provided daily.
The club is accepting applications for 200 members for the Summer Program, ages 6 – 18. Applicants must be at least 6 years old (by June 8) and entering the first grade to be considered. Applications can be picked up at the club.
Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation. Northeast students will have bus transportation to the club once school resumes.
Last summer, the club served approximately 200 members.
