Harry and Rita Plotner of Oakwood will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today, July 28, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. with an open house at the Oakwood Christian Church. The event will be hosted by their children and grandchildren.
Harry Plotner and Rita Fletcher were married July 26, 1953, with a garden wedding at the home of the bride’s parents by James B. Cornett.
Harry was a correctional officer at Danville Correctional Facility. Rita was a store keeper at Illinois Power Company for 43 years.
The couple has two children, Erik Plotner of Oakwood and the late Mark (Angie) Plotner of Oakwood.
The couple has seven grandchildren, Kayli Plotner, 21, Aaron Plotner, 19, Allie Plotner, 11, Mark E. Plotner II, 8, Raymond Kent, 25, Amanda Kent, 21, and Hunter Phelps, 14.
