Dr. Gerald and Betty Sooley of Danville and Zephyr Hills, Fla., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a weekend in Indianapolis and an extended trip in the fall.
Gerald Sooley and Betty Schad were married June 26, 1954, in Zion, Ill.
Dr. Sooley practiced in Zion until 1978. Then they moved the family to Fairmount and the chiropractic practice to Oakwood, where he practiced until 1985. He then practiced in Danville, retiring in 1991.
Mrs. Sooley attended Chicago Conservatory of Music and was a secretary at Leo Burnett Advertising Agency.
The Sooleys have been members of First Baptist Church of Danville for 36 years, and enjoyed serving in many areas of the ministry.
They have four children, Kevin (Cynthia) of Jasper, Texas, Jerlyn (Elwin) LeCompte of Danville, Tricia (Richard) Scarlett of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Dr. George (Jennifer) Sooley of Danville; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
