Mr. and Mrs. Conrad “Dutch” Wantland will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1-4 p.m. July 28 at Batestown United Methodist Church, 2224 Batestown Road, Danville. The event is being hosed by their children.
Conrad “Dutch” Wantland and Doris Markle were married on July 26, 1953, in Tilton by the Rev. L.E. Lousigenont.
Mr. Wantland served in the United States Navy from 1949-1950. He was mayor of Tilton for eight years and a board trustee for more than 15 years. He retired as a journeyman machinist from ERH, Inc. in Westville.

The couple has two sons, Tony (Sue) Wantland of Catlin and Bill (Clydette) Wantland of Fisher. Their grandchildren are Christie Wantland, Casey (Wantland) Huster and Ryan Huster, Kyle Wantland, Jacob Wantland and Kody Wantland. Great-grandchildren include Andrew Huster, Kaden Huster, Hunter Wantland, Brock Wantland, Journey Wantland and Baby Huster, who is due in October.
