David and Nancy Maddox of Warm Springs, Ga., formerly of Sidell, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today, Sept. 9, 2012.
They were married Sept. 9, 1962, at the First Baptist Church of Sidell. The Rev. Frank J. Gilroy officiated at the wedding. Steven Maddox, brother of the groom, and Yvonna Tomaw, sister of the bride, were attendants. Rinda Mae Todd was the flower girl. Brad McDowell was the ring bearer.
Mr. and Mrs. Maddox have three children, Lynne Ellen (Stanley) Jones of LaGrange, Ga., Douglas David (Cathy) Maddox of Warm Springs, Ga., and the late Gavin Boyd Maddox.
They have four grandchildren, David Michael Blumenthal of San Diego, Calif., Amy Nicole Blumenthal of San Marcos, Calif., Elizabeth Ann Maddox and Logan Douglas Maddox of Warm Springs, Ga.
David was employed by Hyster Company in Danville, for more than 25 years in a variety of management positions. David also held positions as director of materials management and director of strategic planning for Goody Products in Manchester, Ga.
Nancy was employed by the Roosevelt Rehabilitation Center in Warm Springs.
David and Nancy have raised registered sheep from the time they were married — first, the Shropshire and Targhee, while they lived in Illinois. Currently they raise a large flock of Katahdin Hair Sheep on their farm in Georgia.
David and Nancy are members of County Line Church, Warm Springs.
